Commitment to Gender Equity and Scientific Research

Advanced Center for chronic diseases (ACCDiS ) joins the commemoration of theInternational Women's Day 2024, A unique opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to gender equality, Narrowing the gender gap in science, technology and innovation and the promotion of women's rights in science.
Under the motto 2024 “Investing in women, Accelerating progress” proposed by theUNESCO, ACCDiS reinforces its commitment to promoting gender equality in all its areas of scientific research and development. This commitment is reflected in the leadership of women scientists who lead four main lines of research at the Center.
Among the outstanding scientists are theDRA. Catterina Ferreccio, deputy director of ACCDIS and professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), theDRA. Mariana Cifuentes Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INTA) University of Chile (UCH), theDRA. Laura Andrea Huidobro of the Catholic University of Maule and theDRA. Sandra Cortés the PUC.
In addition to this contribution, there are more than 130 women, Researchers, Collaborating, Postdocs and PhD students, Magister, undergraduate, technical and administrative staff of the Center who work in the prevention and research of chronic diseases in the country.
Among the latest news that highlight the tireless work of women at the Center, the international recognition granted to Dr.. Monica Acevedo from the American College of Cardiology for her work in the field of cardiology. Also, the hiring of Dr.. Lorena Lobos, who will continue her research on breast cancer at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBM) University of Chile. In addition, the participation of Dr.. Valentina Parra in international collaborations with the Obesity Research Institute of Tecnológico de Monterrey.
We also congratulate our researcher Dra. María Paz Ocaranza, who was recently promoted to full professor in the division of cardiovascular diseases at the PUC School of Medicine.
