Dr. Quest has focused his laboratory research on two main themes: First of all, What mechanisms explain the ambiguous role of the membrane-associated protein scaffoldng caveolin – 1 in cancer ; And secondly , how cancer cells regulate the execution of cell death?
We have recently developed an interest in the processes triggered by pathogenic microbes in eukarotic cells (cellular microbiology) signaling. Specifically, We are investigating how exposure to Helicobacter pylori causes the death of gastric epithelial cells. Project developed under the wing of the Center for advanced chronic diseases (ACCDiS ) proposes to evaluate how inflammation contributes to change depending on the caveolin – 1 of the tumor suppressor, with the promoter of metastasis. To develop these objectives, we work with many different cancer lines (colon, Mama, gastric cancer and melanoma cells) in culture and also employ Vivo, using approaches immunocompetent and immunodeficient mice , as well as knock-out mice caveolin – 1.
