The advanced Centre for chronic diseases was the first to open its doors this week in science

The Monday morning marked the started the celebration throughout the country of the 20th version of the national week of science and technology, and the first Centre to receive students in the framework of "Museums Labs and observatories open" was the ACCDIS of Chile and Católica universities.
Up to the headquarters of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile arrived delegations of students from six establishments in the districts of Quilicura, Santiago and San Bernardo, to listen Dr Conference. Gareth Owen on "What is cancer" and then participate as spectators of a round table discussion with various researchers, that could clear all your doubts with respect to chronic diseases.
The advanced Centre for chronic diseases (ACCDIS for its acronym in English) It is a new project of FONDAP which began a few months ago and have a projection in its initial phase of 10 years.
Chronic diseases, such as cancer and diabetes, they are the most important diseases that Chileans suffer from, in 70% of the total of the diseases that afflict them and kill, therefore knowing about them is fundamental.
Dr. Sergio launderers, Director of the ACCDIS said regarding the importance of the disclosure: "In Chile, we have to realize that along with developing research of the art", We must assume the responsibility of take us over to the people's understanding is done research in the country. In our case we must educate on these diseases, since they entail a number of conditions such as smoking or physical inactivity, then this type of activity are also a way of influencing public health, through education".
In this first activity of "museums, Laboratories and observatories open"of science week particiaparon students of the school Manquecura Valley Lo Campino of Quilicura, Instituto Nacional General José Miguel Carrera, Liceo de application, St. Isaac Jogues school, National School of excellence bicentennial of San Bernardo and the Palmares College.
