Dr. Alejandro Corvalan is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and Principal Investigator of the Advanced Center of Chronic Disease (ACCDiS ). His academic activities include translational research in oncology as well as postgraduate education. Dr. Corvalan research focuses on the interactions between coding and non-coding genes (microRNA and long non-coding RNA) in gastric cancer. He is particularly interested in the molecular basis of precancerous gastric lesions and hereditary and EBV subtypes of this neoplasm. Dr. Corvalan’s research discoveries have contributed to the understanding of the pathogenesis of gastric cancer and have also served as potential biomarkers for non-invasive detection of this neoplasm.
