SUMMARY
The “I Scientific Workshop of Latin American Population Cohorts for the Study of Chronic Diseases –COPLAS”, organized by the Maule Population Cohort –MAUCO, from the Advanced Center for Chronic Diseases – ACCDiS, is an event that aims to bring together the main research groups on Chronic Diseases of Latin-America, as well as distinguished researchers from the United States and Europe, hoping to share experiences and strengthen international collaboration networks.
The Scientific Workshop will be done from April, 4th to 6th, 2018, at the Hotel Termas de Quinamávida, Linares, Chile.

PARTICIPANTS
Approximately 100 people, consisting of Cohort-based Researchers from Latin America and Guest Speakers.
OBJECTIVES and AIMS
1- To discuss the experience of each research group based on Chronic Diseases in Latin America and to explore collaboration areas between them, including data exchange, samples and methods.
2- To identify strengths, particularities, and leadership of every participating cohort for synergic work.
3- To analyze the feasibility and opportunity to evaluate interventions in the cohorts.
4- To create a Latin-American Cohort Consortium to facilitate exchange and development of regional researchers.
5- To elaborate a report of the current state of Cohort Studies and main conclusions of the Workshop.
STRUCTURE
Three days and two nights in the Hotel Termas de Quinamávida. Conferences and Plenary Sessions will show the experiences and results of every cohort, accompanied by roundtable talks to discuss theoretical-methodological aspects. Concurrently, poster sessions will be done.
