Only 3 percent of the population has an ideal food diet
Más de 6 mil habitantes de la comuna de Molina, mainly women, have participated in this study on factors biological and environmental that predispose to the development of diseases chronic, main cause of death for the population of our country. The project, the Center for advanced chronic disease dependent (ACCDiS ) is an initiative pioneer in Chile by that during ten years is studied the health of ten thousand people of this town, and includes the carrying out of surveys, biological sampling, a bio Bank and other indicators.
Molina, located in the Maule Region, It is one of the districts of the country which has the highest rates of risk for chronic diseases in Chile, specifically for cerebrovascular diseases, gastric and gallbladder cancer and ischemic heart disease.
It is precisely this place where pioneer work is developing in our country: el seguimiento de la salud de 10 mil personas a partir de un cohorte que por diez años estudiará la trayectoria de estos pacientes, de entre 38 y 74 años.

For this reason, Lavandero said that is crucial give you continuity to a project like this because as first experience in Chile, debería desarrollarse como en el resto del mundo “donde la más antigua de estas cohortes ya lleva 60 años. Today they work with grandchildren. The idea is make a called to finance this type of research because there is a responsibility with solve the problems of the people. Society demands it of us".
From the scope of the health mental, el 23 por ciento de la población estudiada posee trastorno depresivo mayor, with greater presence in women that men. This is a factor that in other cohorts of the world increases risk of diseases cardiovascular and deteriorating cognitive.
Silvia Nunez, He stressed that this project positions health according to local studies research already so far “the majority of our analysis are made on the basis to external patterns of cohorts of other countries. The validation of patterns national, Although it is focused on bounded pathologies, can lift the relevance that has the generate studies in other areas”. Also, the Director of research of the U. of Chile relieved the character inter-institutional and interdisciplinary of MAUCO, where “converge excellence researchers to generate information for the country”.
MAUCO, directed by the Dr. Catterina Ferrecio, It will continue to monitor the population of Molina, adding new initiatives research in areas such as the monitoring of quality of the air in some homes, samples of flooring to see residues of pesticides, the dysfunction heart, skin cancer, disease biliary, condition physical and deficit attention of the adult higher, among others.
