Children in Early Childhood Education, 1st and 2nd grade, participated in the Children's Environment and Technology Fair

With a wide participation of students, teachers and family members, on October 9, the socialization day of the Early Childhood Inquiry Program PIPE and PichinCO was held: In search of water, at the Mirador Interactive Museum -MIM.
The day brought together more than 70 preschool education students, First and second grade, belonging to various educational institutions in the Northern Metropolitan Region, who communicated the work carried out during the year and learned about other projects carried out by their peers. On the one hand, 10 PIPE booths participated, Technology Module, and on the other hand, 5 PichinCO booths participated, in search of water.
Both instances are part of the initiatives of the Explora Metropolitan Region North Associative Program, Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and innovation, led by the Advanced Center for Chronic Diseases (ACCDiS ) through the University of Chile and its Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. They managed to reach more than 2,900 children in the northern area of the Metropolitan Region.
This year PIPE managed to train 137 educators, Early Childhood Education Technicians and Differential Educators, along with 1,595 students of middle and transition levels of Early Childhood Education, who worked in the area of technology learning.
On the other hand, It was also possible to contribute to the awareness and care of water in the regional territory, through the illustrated story PichinCO: In search of water, executed this year for the second time. In this opportunity, the story was delivered free of charge to 1,372 children and 51 teachers from educational establishments in different areas of the Northern Metropolitan Region.
During the day, The children presented their projects with enthusiasm, showcasing the development of technological elements such as telephones, Tools for Color Printing, Shade Projectors, among others. On the other hand, had the opportunity to present innovative solutions to conserve water and help PichinCO to find it.
Some of the participants shared their impressions: Esther commented, "I liked the story of PichinCO and do experiments with my classmates". Javiera expressed, "What I liked the most was getting to know the Aculeo Lagoon". Emiliano said, "I liked learning about phones", and Johel concluded by saying, "I liked learning how to take care of water and the environment”.
Mariela Carrillo González, Director of the Tanganyika Kindergarten, of the Cerro Navia commune, took advantage of the instance to tell about his experience with PIPE "We began to learn about the program last year, motivated by the need to develop scientific skills in our children, and train our pedagogical team. We have been participating for two years now, and it has been a wonderful experience. I am very happy with the results we have achieved: Now we have more Boy Scouts, curious and interested in researching. We have seen how they strengthen their language and their decision-making power. Thanks to these activities, Our community is more aware of the importance of science education. In addition, Our early childhood educators have transformed the way they design their learning experiences, Harnessing natural resources to create meaningful educational experiences. Our educational team has been greatly strengthened," he said.
In this same line, Daniela Muñoz, Pre-kindergarten assistant at the Paul Harris High School in Padre Hurtado, commented that PichinCO It was a great lesson for both children and their families. "The children were very enthusiastic about working with the story; they wanted to know who he was PichinCO and understand why water pollution was happening".
These activities give rise to socialization between students and the community and allow them to generate spaces for them to communicate their experiences, learn with others and thus promote the development of the necessary skills for children to know and understand their environment from early childhood.
