ACCDiS Annual Meeting 2024: A day of collaboration, Memory and new beginnings

On October 28, we celebrate our ACCDiS 2024 annual meeting, a space that brought together more than 100 collaborators of the Center to reflect on our achievements and continue building our path in research.
The day began with the presentation of our director, Dr. Sergio Lavandero, who shared the results of the Bridge Project and the progress in the re-application of the Center. Dr. Andrea Ortiz, winner of the ACCDiS Innovation Contest 2023, who presented on his FONDEF IDeA I+D project "Development of a nanostructured gastroretentive system for the treatment of Helicobarcter pylori: in vitro and in vivo approach".
On the other hand, Dr. Claudia Bambs, new director of the MAUCO project, who presented the results of this year's cohort.
During the event, working groups were held, where participants discussed critical issues about chronic diseases and proposed solutions, strengthening your commitment to our mission. And a special announcement was also made, This is a new award, called "Polakovikoa", in tribute to our beloved researcher Iva Polakovikoa, who left us 4 years ago. This recognition will celebrate achievements, Passion and effort of our postdoctoral researchers, keeping Iva's spirit of excellence alive.
On the day, The educational book was also presented: "PichinCO: A journey towards healthy living", developed this year by ACCDiS in collaboration with our Explora Associative Project, North Metropolitan Region. "This material seeks to strengthen the scientific skills associated with healthy living, The book addresses relevant issues such as malnutrition and the adoption of healthy habits", explained our researcher Dr. Mario Chiong, who motivated all the attendees to get up from their chairs and live the experience that is done with children.
And we close the event with a photographic exhibition, that narrates the visual journey through the achievements, challenges and the impact of ACCDiS on its mission to improve public health over the past 10 years. Through 19 photographs, The exhibition invites us to reflect on the relevance of science in the prevention and treatment of diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular pathologies
Each photograph tells a story: from key moments in the laboratory, to scientific dissemination activities in the field. The purpose was to capture the collaborative and interdisciplinary spirit that defines ACCDiS and its commitment to the generation of knowledge that directly impacts people's quality of life.
