On October 8 celebrates with Explora RM Norte the Science Festival “Climate Crisis: Tod@s we are essential!!

After two years in virtuality, the Science Festival returns in face-to-face format. The next Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the La Moneda Cultural Center, more than 50 specialists from various institutions will meet, who through talks, conversations, exhibitions and spaces for interaction will celebrate knowledge.
The activity is organized by the Regional Associative Projects (PAIR) of Explora of the Northern Metropolitan Region of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation and will have the participation of more than 35 collaborating institutions. This year, the main theme is to survey the knowledge of Science, Technology, Knowledge and innovation (CTCI) and actions that contribute to facing the current climate crisis from an ecosystem perspective.
Among the guests will be the teacher Jose Maza, National Prize for Exact Sciences 1999; Sergio Lavandero, National Prize of Natural Sciences 2022; Catalina Silva, environmental activist; Marcelo Lagos, geographer and specialist in extreme natural processes; Anahí Urquiza, social anthropologist; Rafael araos, member of the National Pandemic Response Commission, among other specialists who from their research areas will tell how they contribute to mitigate the effects of climate change.
"I invite the whole community to reach out, be amazed and enjoy the topics and phenomena related to the CTCI, linked to actions that contribute to confronting the current climate crisis. This Science Festival, seeks to generate greater awareness from the earliest ages and in a fun way, the way to take care of the only home we have and as the slogan says where we are all essential. During the activity, several topics will be addressed, among them, water one of the most necessary but very vulnerable natural resources. The topic of pollution will also be developed, environmentally sustainable food, among others", reported on Dr. Mario Chiong, director PAR Explora RM Norte.
The Science Festival (FECI) is a national celebration that invites all people to appropriate the CTCI, through a program of public and free activities that facilitate the understanding of the environment, from various areas of knowledge.
Among the activities that will be developed in FECI 2022, Is:
- "Area: A trip to the Center of Change“: permanent space that will have the participation of more than 15 institutions, who will invite participants to enjoy activities and experiences related to the climate crisis and water.
- Workshops "Let's celebrate Knowledge!”: all attendees will be able to participate in this workshop.
- Cycle of talks "CuriousLY" addressing the climate crisis
- Discussion "Together against the climate crisis"
- Conversation “Science for H₂OY “
- Video and documentary screening
