Since the first case of coronavirus was diagnosed in Chile, March 3rd last, they're already 57 people who have lost their lives to this disease, ages of 34 to 100 years of age. However, and replicating the trend that has taken shape in the world, most deaths are recorded in patients over the age of 70.

In this way, of the 57 deaths registered by health authorities, 44 are over 70 and represent 77,1% of the total. In addition, if you add up the nine dead between the ages of 60 and 69, elderly deaths reach 93%. In return, there are only four deaths under the age of 59.

Yesterday in your daily report, the Minister of Health, Jaime Mañalich, unveiled nine deaths, figure that to date is the highest death toll in a day.

Regarding these new cases, the secretary of state said that "correspond to the profile that we have reported practically every day, very old people, we have 81, 87 years old, 85 years old, with very important comorities, fundamentally cancer, very advanced dementia, Alzheimer's. In these nine deceased patients, seven of them did not take extraordinary treatment measures resulting from their basal comosirability".

Since deaths began in the country from Covid-19, 20 days ago, the government has chosen not to hand over the details linked to each death. One of the exceptions was the first death, which happened on March 21 and affected an 83-year-old woman, who was prostrate at their home in the commune of Renca, in the Metropolitan Region.
