First meeting of our Explora RM Norte PIPE 2021
The first of June, the team of the Explora Región Metropolitana Norte Project of the Ministry of Science, met for the first time with 38 early childhood education professionals who will be part of the Early Ages Inquiry Program – PIPE.
The meeting was a training space in which pedagogical teams that will be trained in PIPE, received the central guidelines of the initiative and through their own experience, worked the cycles of inquiry through a workshop held on the day. To finish, the Director of Explora RM North, Dr. Mario Chiong, gave a talk focused on one of the main objectives of the program, "development of scientific skills in children".
Mariana Rodriguez, in charge of the initiative explained that the objective of the meeting is to meet our new PIPE community and meet with the participants who have accompanied us in previous years. During the activity we explain what PIPE is, what will be the schedule and mode of work. In addition, as a central axis, the main methodology used for the development of scientific skills in girls and boys was discussed., framed in the cycle of inquiry through the activities proposed by the Explora program and contextualized by the pedagogical teams. These skills promote the formation of citizens of the XXI century, that they learn by integrating scientific and technological knowledge to act and interpret in their natural and sociocultural environment, added.
All teams will receive their work tools
In the context of pandemic where many students are still from home, one of the objectives of the RM North is to reduce gaps in access to education, for this reason, the team put together a logistics of delivery of physical materials, virtual and audiovisual to each pedagogical team, allowing all participating students to experience science from the earliest ages.
PIPE aims to strengthen the scientific competences of the pedagogical teams of Preschool Education and develop in children the necessary skills so that they know and understand the world around them.
To finish, the RM North informed that from the next meeting the work of module 1 will begin, in the initiative: “I'm sure I grow” and “a city in my garden”, in order to work on the first activity associated with the program and begin to build the PIPE community, together with the experiences of each of the members of the initiative.
