For 6 consecutive years the Advanced Center for Chronic Diseases ACCDIS, held its annual meetings in person, being the only chance to meet with your national and international team, however, because of the current health situation, this meeting was held for the first time in a virtual way.

But the current pandemic, was not an impediment for more than 140 people, among them lead researchers, partners, collaborators, postgraduate students and undergraduate students will meet to discuss the results, challenges and projections for years to come.

The meeting began on Monday, August 31, with the words of the principal director and researcher of the, Sergio Lavandero, who highlighted the excellence of the team of scientists and collaborators, who from every line of research have continued to work on their projects "They have certainly been difficult times, but we haven't let ourselves be beaten, I extend my congratulations to Dr.. Caterrina Ferreccio, deputy director of the Centre, who serves on the COVID-19 Advisory Council of the Ministry of Health, MAUCO team, researchers who applied to the COVID-19 projects of the National Agency for Research and Development ANID and in general to all ACCDIS members".

For two days, each line of research presented its most important results and research, starting with dr.. Andrew Quest accompanied by Dr.. Paula Diaz. Then Dr.. Alejandro Corvalán and Dr.. Keila Torres and finally Dr.. Marcelo Kogan with Dr.. Daniela Baez. Then on Tuesday, introduced Dr.. Sergio Lavandero and researcher Valentina Parra, Dr. Pablo Castro with Dr.. Camila Lopez and finally Dr.. Catterina Ferreccio and her team, consisting of Jenny Ruedlinger and Andrea Huidobro.

As a close of activity on Monday, Sergio Becerra participated, Head of the Cancer Department of the Ministry of Health, who talked about the National Cancer Act and on Tuesday Dr.. Larissa Avilés, DIRECTOR of Clinical Research and Health Services at NIMHD, who debated the strategies applied to address COVID19 in the United States and Chile, instance that allowed the exchange of ideas and opinions of all attendees.
