The Advanced Center for Chronic Diseases in the face of national contingency recognizes that:

  • Health is an essential human right and it is the responsibility of the State to generate - through the development of public policies- social and environmental conditions to ensure personal conditions, family and community health for all Chileans.
  • The social crisis we are experiencing is a citizen demonstration of rejection of the conditions of inequality and inequity, that occur - among other things- access to basic needs such as education, Bless you, Transport, healthy eating and dignified pensions.
  • In Chile there are minority social groups with a state of health typical of developed societies and at the same time a large proportion of the population with health indicators from underdeveloped countries, which is accompanied by a fragmented health system with significant lack of sufficiency and quality.
  • The general population, and in particular, people in the public health system today face an epidemic of chronic diseases that has not been able to be controlled by current policies.
  • The current scenario of social crises and citizen demands is an opportunity for the construction of new public policies that reduce inequities and uncertainties in living conditions and access to health for our entire population, with an emphasis on moving towards greater social cohesion. This will require complex and deep structural solutions, a pluralistic and multidisciplinary analysis of the determinants of health is necessary, social, Environmental, Economic, cultural and territorial.
  • Research in chronic diseases plays a relevant role in today's national stage and requires today more than ever to generate and accelerate the transfer of knowledge and solutions to individuals and their communities.
  • As a research center we are committed to enhancing the discussion between science and public policy, to continue bringing science closer to students and the general community and to use our capabilities to decisively contribute to the systemic changes that our society requires.
